Black Leopard Camp is situated in the magnificent 6000-hectare Thaba Tholo Wilderness, in the Lyndenburg district of Mpumalanga. With Thaba Tholo being the home of the highest concentration of black leopard sightings in South Africa, it is a very exciting place to visit as you never know what will be waiting around the next corner.
If you are on your way to The Kruger National Park, Mozambique, Nelspruit, Lydenburg, Dullstroom, Pilgrims Rest, Blyde River Canyon, Hoedspruit, Polokwane, Burgersfort, Orhigstad, Sabie Sabie, Long Tom Pass, Bourke’s Luck, Mac Mac Falls, Gods Window, Jock of the Bushveld or any of the other world-class tourist destinations, then Black Leopard Camp is the perfect stop over to visit for a couple of days.
The black leopard, which in other places around the world is called the black panther, is a melanistic version of our normal spotted leopard.
There is an abundance of activities including archaeological ruins to view. You could even set up your own motion sensitive camera traps - who knows, you could be the one to get a photo of the legendary black leopard. Enjoy beautiful scenery which includes mountains, rivers plus a host of flora including the beautiful protea. Black Leopard Camp is a game and birding mecca. One can even try and spot the breeding pairs of black eagles.
